CORONAVIRUS AND THE EARTH ATMOSPHERE

Coronavirus 2019 in short Covid 19 has wreak havoc first in Wuhan China and now spreading to the whole world. The earth atmosphere is sick and the breeding ground of this virus. It will spread its havoc until we (people of the earth) learn from our mistake.

Here's my two cent opinion or advice. Our atmosphere now is full of positive ions which is harmful to us. What we need is the negative ions which can eradicate this virus and help us to breath clean air.

Our atmosphere is so polluted due to the carbon dioxide from the cars, factories, forest fires recently in Australia and the volcanic eruptions covering the sun rays . Those pollutants are the cause of this coronavirus to proliferate and became pandemic.

I search the web and read a lot about coronavirus and advice from youtube how to's. The good doctors in youtube are correct to give advised how to strengthen one's immune system to fight this virus but nobody wrote about the atmosphere. The positive air ions is the culprit of the spread of this coronavirus. Negative air ions are electrically charged molecules. There are millions of these ions in the ocean and waterfalls and after the thunderstorms. It cleans the air from any dust mites or viruses or allergens making us breath easy. All the wild fires and the spewing of volcanic ash in the air sapped the negative ions in the atmosphere. Coronavirus is in the air

Now here's my two cent advice how to protect yourself and your family.

a. Put a bit of salt on your tongue and drink a glass of water to rehydrate your body. Sea salt is a good source of magnesium. (thanks to the late Dr Fereydoon Batmanghelidj read his books)

b. Eat quality food especially meat and vegetable. The pork meat should be free from african swine flu or other disease. Cook it well. Cantonese people marinate their pork with c. oil and baking soda. Not only pork but all kind of meat. Vegetable should be washed with baking soda before eating it raw.

c. To strengthen your immune system, it starts in your digestive system in your GUT. Our Gut is full of microbiome and we need to strengthen our good bacteria. Eat prebiotic like garlic, onion and probiotic like yogurt and kefir. Slow cook chicken or bone (pork, beef or fish) broth to strengthen your immune.

d. There is also microbiome in our throat and skin. Gargle warm water with sea salt when brushing your teeth. Put sea salt on your liquid soap, it will clean your skin from pathogens. Try to mimic the ocean and waterfalls by showering and using sea salt. Clean the inside of your nose with sea salt water and breath in some water with salt through your nose to clean inside.

e. Clean or purify the air. Mix 2 tbsp of sea salt in 3 liters of water and a drop of peppermint oil or eucalyptus oil. Put it in a spray bottle and spray your home with this mixture. Or you can put this mixture in a mist maker, it's more convenient. Clean the filter of your air conditioning more often.

f. Since we are all in this pitiful state, it is a good time to reflect. Time to pray and ask for Divine Mercy. (My rosary is my phone to our Heavenly Father through the intercession of our blessed mother)

I like what the Singapore PM Lee Hsien Loong said yesterday in his speech not to lockdown Singapore so as not create panic in his country and their businesses. This disease can be control with the cooperation and discipline of the people. If only Philippine is a small country like Singapore and with the cooperation of the Filipinos to adhere to the strict restriction of President Duterte. We can do this and we won't need this lockdown. We just need to create or mimic the atmosphere of the ocean and the splashing water of waterfalls we can beat this coronavirus. Look at these 2 photos, there are millions of people and at a glance they may even look the same. The difference is the emotions of the crowd in these photos. I pray that the US and Iran tension will eventually dissipate. War is not the answer and war is stupid. President Trump acted upon the advised of chief commander Mike Pompeo, which is dangerous and stupid. I hope this is not another Iraq war whom President Bush started. Here in Quiapo Manila, We are showing the world that Prayer is the most important activity of men that helps him solve problems. "Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me." "Every one that asketh, receiveth; and he that seeketh, findeth."(MatT.7:8). Here's hoping for PEACE

Broken dowel post (RCT)

An anxious 42 years old patient called me up to tell me that her crown fell off .   Upon oral examination,  her titanium (dowel) post in her tooth no. 11 broke in halves. I checked her periapical x-ray and saw nothing unusual around the root.

I used a 801 round bur to open the pathway to the canal and to have a better access to the broken titanium dowel. Then i used my ultrasonic instrument moving it inside in circumferential motion around the dowel pin to dislodge it from its cement. It took around 10 mins to remove it from the canal. I cleaned the canal with chlorhexidine 0.20% and dry the canal.  I accidentally perforated the canal at the lingual side due to over instrumentation or a weakened wall . I used MTA denstply (white) on the perforated wall . I prefer MTA denstply here over MTA angelus eventhoigh it's in a syringe type. The strength and hardness of MTA denstply is superior to that of MTA angelus. I used angelus fiber post # 1 and cemented it with Rebilda voco up to the post build up. I used Duolink bisco to cement the Zircnia crown.

"For the greater glory of God" This is San Ignacio de Loyola's main principle which became the Jesuit's motto: "Ad maiorem Dei gloriam".  His Spiritual Exercises which he wrote in a cave near the town of Manresa as he practiced asceticism ( is an exercise of self-denial from worldly pleasure to attain spiritual discipline) was printed in 1548. San Ignacio de Loyola died in July 31, 1556 (460 years ago), beatified on July 27, 1609. It is only fitting to honor him with this moving and beautifully made  film by Paolo Dy and done justice by Andreas Muñoz for his portrayal of Capitan Iñigo (Ignacio de Loyola). 

To Note: He was vigorous in opposing the Protestant Reformation during his time. He is venerated as the patron saint of Catholic soldiers here in our country ' the Military Ordinariate of the Philippines'.

MANILA PATRIOTIC SCHOOL (chinese name: AUI KOK) will be celebrating its centennial year this year.  Aui Kok, as I fondly call it, is a first Cantonese school in the Philippines. Now Mandarin is being taught there too.

With all the hoopla on that day (feb 24), the one thing that stayed in my mind are the students' smiles.  PRICELESS !!!  Here's wishing COLGATE and AUI KOK more success !

Feb 9 St Apolonia's Day

I attended the mass for St Apolonia with my good friend Dr F. Capellan at Sta Cruz Church. On my way to the Plaza Sta Cruz, there were motorcade with banners from the Philippine Dental Association and its affliate chapters.  It's only appropriate that February is Oral Health Month in honor of our patron saint.

I was dumbfounded by the turnout of dentists at Sta Cruz Church and the mass was held at the main chapel to accomodate the people. After the mass, there were snack given and time to a little chit-chat.

Last year there were only a handful of dentists (approximate less than 100) who attended the mass and it was held at the upper room of the church auxillary building. I said to myself what a pity but grateful for the dentists who celebrated St Apolonia's day. Thanks to Dr Barba and her team, she made this possible. This will be her legacy. I was not able to ask her what they requested from the congress. 

Anyway, It was nice to see familiar faces. I saw my old MCU schoolmate Dr Mel Dazo (I forgot his first name -sorry) , my surgery batchmate Dr Johnny P and Dr. Jonathan V, the ;  Dr Steph (congrats, 2012 Pres Fil-Chi) and Dr Barba (2011Manila Dental Society Pres).   

Talaga naman this was a wonderful day.  I wish that all dentists could attend this mass held every year  (Feb 9) at Sta Cruz Church. Whatever their denomination, everybody is invited.

A 29 year-old-male came with complaint of severe pain in his lower right molar. He said that he experienced (intermittent) pain for about a month and would just take NSAID (Non Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug) then for two consecutive nights he had this throbbing pain before he came to our office. Upon visual examination revealed of cracked restoration. Radiographically the periapex is normal. Diagnosis: Irreversible pulpitis.

A 56 year old female came to my office and complain of pain in her tooth no. 34 and 35.

Upon dental check-up, there's a 3 unit porcelain fixed bridge on these two teeth. It was the main support that resulted in a cantilevered bridge. As you can see in my first x-ray, there's an overhang unit after tooth no 35. That cantilever or the unsupported unit had put pressure on tooth no 34 and 35. It caused microscopic leakege sipping to the abutment tooth due to the seesaw effect during mastication. There was no dramatic seesaw effect but the movement was in microscopic effect.

I removed the unit and did a root canal therapy on tooth no. 35 (AH Plus). On tooth no. 34, I did the pulpotomy using the new medicaments Pulpotec from Switzerland. I prepared those teeth for their porcelain cap. My patient is still pain free and problem free with her new unit since 2009. I gave her oral health instruction to follow and do religiously to maintain a healthy gums.
