February: Dental Health Month & Kiddie Talk at Manila Patriotic School

February is Dental Health Month which is very appropriate because February 9 is St Apolonia Day and every year a mass is held at the Sta Cruz Parish Church at 9:00 am.  There were only less than 100 dentists who attended.  If I were not informed by my surgery batch mate and good friend Dr. Flor Capellan, I would have been absent too. This is my first time to attend this mass and i had my St Apolonia statue blessed by the officiating priest. He asked me and the organizer  ( Fil-Chi Dental Chapter ) to propagate St Apolonia, the patron saint of dentist.  I will try to print the novena of St Apolonia here.

In the Kiddie Health Talk , the nursery and kindergarten of Manila Patriotic School are my audience so I have to make my presentation interesting to kids and at the same time informative for the parents and grandparents who were invited by the school.  It was tough to get their attention and tougher to get their interest but since they go to the school clinic often, I made a good rapport with them.  Fortunately, when it was my turn to speak, they were given their meal. They were well behave and they interact with us very well.

The speakers were School Nurse Janet Sison,  School Physician Dr. Sison,  Ms Rocelle of children's memory vitamin.

Awards were given.  There were winners like little ms & mr well groom, little mr & ms best teeth, etc.

I have my own cameraman but unfortunately he is not tech savvy and novice in photography.  Result all his shot are off center, tsk tsk tsk. That's what I get if I ask favor from our waiter Mr Ato Dollete to take my pictures. I will have to ask for the official school photo (to follow).

Special thanks to Colgate-Palmolive, sponsor of my kiddie health talk. I would like to thank Mr Iam Guerrero and Mr Gomar of Colgate-Palmolive for unwavering support.  The colgate toothpastes and toothbrushes were given to all the students as well as to the teachers and parents. It was worth their while.  A quality product to deserving and intelligent students of Manila Patriotic School (Ay Kok).
